Eddie Valero: The ‘Superstar’ music video is pure grinding paying off

Sometimes you just need to glow up and see how much a tough grind pays off. So it’s no shocker rap artist Eddie Valero is living his best life with the visuals to prove it like the ‘Superstar’ music video.

It’s all types of impressiveness and he knows it. Geek out to the cinematic flexing.

Eddie Valero channels his musical heroes to flesh out his stories of hustling and street drama. Today, the Memphis native shares the video for "Superstar," a highlight from his new album Gangsta Blues. "Superstar" uses a sample of the Isley Brothers song of the same name, its refrain of "you're a superstar, that's what you are" affirming Eddie's boastful bars: "Consistent sh*t, I been working, they peepin' sh*t heatin' up," he spits. In the video, directed by Eddie's regular collaborator Global Filmz, offers a peek into Eddie's life since releasing Gangsta Blues, showing clips from his performances with Starlito and Don Trip, his release party in Memphis, and his interactions with fans.

"Superstar" is the latest high quality video to come from Gangsta Blues, following the video for "For The Hood," a collaboration with 8Ball, of the legendary duo 8Ball & MJG. Spanning 11 tracks, the high-octane album harkens back to all eras of Memphis music, from the country-fried underground rap of the 90s, to the hustle-hard anthems of recent years, reaching all the way back to the blues that made Beale Street famous. Crafted by producers including BandPlay, Luh Ron, and DT Da KiddGangsta Blues is a treat for fans who appreciate 70s soul as much as modern trap, weaving in samples from greats like Curtis Mayfield (on mood-setting intro "60 Dayz") and The Isley Brothers (on self-assured closer "Superstar") to animate Eddie's street stories. Eddie's resonant rap voice bounces off twangy guitars and speaker-knocking 808s, as he talks his fly sh*t ("Diamonds sing like Johnny Gill," he says in recent single "New Edition") and gives glimpses into the darker aspects of his rise. Featuring an additional guest appearance from StarlitoGangsta Blues is available on all platforms in partnership with ONErpm.

Eddie Valero is currently on the road, opening for Don Trip & Starlito on their "Step Brothers 4 Life Tour" on several dates this summer. The rapper is hard at work at Gangsta Blues (Deluxe), coming this summer.

With Gangsta Blues out now and more music on the way, Eddie Valero is ready to become Memphis's next big thing. Stay tuned for more.
