Genia: The crooner brings the energy in her ‘BABY IMA STAR’ music video

Sometimes you just need some serious energy and it’s more than all eyes on crooner Genia with her ‘BABY IMA STAR’ single and music video.

The energy is fire and seeing her turning up in the office space? I am here for it. Get caught up in the flexing.

Rising popstar Genia steps boldly into her next chapter with new single “Baby Ima Star” - out now via Def Jam Recordings. The unapologetically confident, high-energy track introduces the birth of her meticulously constructed GenAI persona offering a larger than life identity rooted in ambition, spectacle, and control. Watch HERE.

At the start of the record, Genia establishes a tone with her intro lyric “Baby I’m a star / Can’t be played, know who the f*ck you are” declaring a state of dominance that leaves little room for doubt of her ever-evolving superstardom. The repetition feels intentional and hypnotic through a calculated nature of effortless attention grabbing and bravado. She accents the song with a futuristic visual creating an edgy otherworldly image of GenAI as she dances through a room of ordinary people while being surrounded by supernatural meteorites and sci-fi technologies. The video crystallizes GenAI as an imagined take on modern fame where the line between an authentic and artificial persona gets blurred.

“[Baby Ima Star] ignites the birth of the GenAI machine” says Genia. “It invites you into the presenting side of myself that is glossy and confident. This record embodies me full of ambition, power, and external validation.”

Genia has been on an evolving journey stamping her musical passport with previous singles “Downfall” and “Toastyyy” Feat. Timberland marking the start of herGenia vs GenAI era where she takes fans through an era of exploring the tension between artificial identity and human truth. In 2025, she also reupped the fan favorite “Give” tagging in Monaleo for a new version. It picked up looks from Global Grind who featured the collab in its weekly “New Music Roundup.” It landed in the wake of her mixtape 4AM IN THE VILLE, which earned acclaim from the likes of Rated R&B and more.

The bridge between “Toastyyy’s” futurism and “Downfall’s” heartfelt vulnerability is proof that Genia’s artistry is not confined to mood or moment but animated by emotional intelligence and sonic ambition. With the release of “Baby I’m a Star”, she sharpens her voice and commands the spotlight and emerges not only as a rising act, but as a formidable architect of her next chapter.

Genia is a force to be reckoned with. Fiery yet thoughtful with her pen, the 24-year-old makes music that, like her, can’t be put into a box. On her most recent singles, “Damage” and “Give” on Def Jam, she delivers fun, pop-leaning anthems for the girls. A departure from her last two EPs, 4am In The Ville& 4pm In The Ville, where she delivered melodic manifestos over speaker-rattling beats brimming with soulful samples and blaring horns. “I feel like I make music for everybody,” she says. “But mainly for women to feel badass. That was kind of my thing: to make bad bitch music, but also vulnerable music, almost like somebody’s reading my diary.” This raw approach comes from a lifetime of using music as therapy. Growing up in a turbulent household in Victorville, CA, Genia dreamt of escape. Through her grandmother, she found it first in Prince’s Purple Rain, and listening to consummate artists like Beyoncé and Rihanna inspired her to forge her own alter ego: a woman who’s as tough as she is creative, who handles her business. She was working at Walmart and studying to be a nurse when COVID hit. Amid the stress, she quit and turned to music. After striking TikTok gold in November 2020 with her version of Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” Genia went hard — refining her vocals, writing, and dancing. Now she’s deep in new music, with plenty more savage songwriting and nostalgic production on deck. For this young Def Jam star, this is just the beginning for Genia.
