Luhh Dyl: It’s late night New York City outings in the ‘Holdin Back’ music video

You already know anything New York City-based? I’m rocking with it hard. So it’s all eyes on rap artist Luhh Dyl fully delivering with a solid ‘Holdin Back’ music video.

The anthem goes hard but getting both the late night adventures and daytime lifestyle moments captured on film? Tough. Fully embrace the visual mastery.

Bursting out of Detroit with a unique twist on his region's sound, Luhh Dyl has the goods to become the next great rapper out of the Motor City. Today, the young MC showcases his ability to fit his rhymes into unique rhythmic pockets on "Holdin Back," his wistful new single and music video. Produced by Yo Mar!, "Holdin Back" adds thumping percussion to a sample of Pinegrove's melancholy indie song "Need 2," which went viral a couple years back thanks to the "Pinegrove Shuffle" trend on TikTok. The vibes of the sample gives Dyl an excuse to get introspective, as he examines the circumstances of his come up and dwells on how much further he has to go: "If you go too fast, you might lose your feet," he intones.

"Holdin Back" continues Luhh Dyl's rise into acclaim and prominence. The new single follows the release of  "Wish You Could," a contemplative banger dropped a couple weeks back. Earlier this year, he teamed up with Atlanta emcee Lil Tony, on the single "Wouldn't Believe," which was named one of the Best Rap Songs of May 2025 by The FADER, and has generated over 2 million streams in less than two months. "Wish You Could" continues a big year for Luhh Dyl, marked by a high-quality project, viral singles, and recognition from rap critics. Over the past year, Dyl made waves with songs like "LaLaLa" (5+ million Spotify streams) and "Ski," which generated over 3 million Spotify streams. "Ski" appeared on Dyl's February 2025 album, Intrude, a tape that comments on the imposter syndrome he feels the need to overcome. The album, and its Deluxe, was a testament to the respect Dyl commands in his hometown scene. Detroit heavy-hitters like VeezeTee Grizzley, and Sada Baby appear on the tape, as do national names like Loe Shimmy and Nino Paid. Dyl performed tracks from Intrude with a live band on a scintillating From The Block performance (over 100k YouTube views), showing off his already-seasoned performance chops.
